Camdentown National Night Out Marketplace
Join Camdentown and the Minneapolis Craft Market for a National Night Out marketplace in the Northside, a free, family-friendly event. Summer Salon: An Art & Fashion Gallery Social  
Storage Contemporary gallery is hosting its first open-studio event of the year. I’ll be a special guest with my brand Rosella Vintage and will have a special party-ready assortment of vintage clothing, just in time for summer wedding season, and planning ahead for the Walker’s Party in/the Garden benefit and Fall 2021 Fashion Week MN events. Plus, peruse works of art from both Kate Iverson and Karolczak, art scarves designed by female artists from local brand Alice Riot, and selections from Caitlin Karolczak’s vintage clothing collection. (She has a background as an antique dealer and has some choice pieces she’s had stored away!) Amy Rice Art Open Studio Event
It’s been 17 months since Minnesota visual artist Amy Rice has opened her studio in the California Building in Northeast Minneapolis to the public. That is two missed Art-A-Whirls. Over the past 17 months, Rice had two solo gallery exhibitions—much of that work will be available to the public to view IRL for the first time during this event. Recently, Rice has also been the artist for a new, local, woman-owned, sustainable-focused subscription box company, Bee Relaxed, whose founders will join her as studio guests. Look forward to product samples and a fun, collaborative giveaway for early customers, plus fresh-cut flowers, sustainably grown in Minnesota by Rice and her husband at County Line Gardens will also be available as a “build your own” bouquet bar. Make the trip up to Grand Rapids for an evening of beautiful fashion with McGregor–based Buckanaga Social Club, a collective of Indigenous Minnesotan artists and designers. Mill City Farmers Market (weekly)
A summer mainstay since 2006, the market features over 120 local farmers, food makers and artisans with a goal of building a local, sustainable and organic food economy in a vibrant, educational outdoor marketplace. This weekend’s artisan highlights include Aprilierre handcrafted jewelry, ArtAndes Peruvian woven textiles and rugs, Create Laser Art laser-engraved goods, Maat Mons bags and soft goods, Matthew Krousey Ceramics and Sally Fritz Clothing. Northeast Minneapolis Vintage Yard Sale
A group of regional vintage sellers and artists are joining forces for a funky and fun yard sale. Northrup King Building’s Summer Sizzle
With the abbreviated Art-A-Whirl event this past spring and the many canceled makers markets over the past 16 months due to the pandemic, Northrup King Building—the biggest artist studio in the Midwest—is throwing a big event to give its makers and artists and chance to connect with shoppers. The one-day “Summer Sizzle” event will feature hundreds of local artists alongside food trucks and vendors. Highlights include local jewelry designer Larissa Loden, who’ll offer exclusive in-studio limited designs before it moves to its new storefront in the fall (#265); and Strey Collective, a co-operative boutique featuring goods from nearly a dozen local fashion makers (#179). Cry Baby Clay Studio Grand Opening Party
Known for her clay vessels in squiggly, organic shapes and her popular clay kits, Cry Baby Clay creator Katie Cameron is opening a new studio and having a party to celebrate. Inbound Brewing’s Nershfest
After a year hiatus, Nershfest is back. The Golden Pearl Vintage’s annual Back Alley Bazaar is back, promising vintage clothing and accessories that are “not perfect, but still dang cute!” Throughout the year as the shop curates its selection of vintage for the store, they sometimes come across things that are damaged, but still amazing. FloralPop: A Blooming Transformation
Spring is the season of transformation, and Galleria is taking inspiration by transforming its building into a floral canvas. As part of the spring FloralPop showcase, the exterior of the shopping center will be temporarily wrapped in fun, eye-catching floral graphics custom created by local artist, Lindsey Made This (@LindseyMadeThis). Lindsey’s illustrations will be brought to life through massive vinyl wraps applied to the exterior of Galleria’s brick building turning Galleria into a larger-than-life floral installation. In addition to the exterior building wrap, visitors will be greeted at each main level Galleria entrance with breathtaking, metal floral displays handcrafted by local creative team, Studios Moss. Moth Oddities
After nearly seven years selling vintage online, in local pop-ups and on the road, Moth Oddities has finally opened the doors to their new storefront in Northeast Minneapolis this weekend. Owners and partners Yana Pietras and Ian O'Neill source their vintage clothing and accessories on cross-country road trips in their 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer named Eleanor as well as from a buyer from Italy. In addition to vintage, the duo will sell products by makers (both local and from around the U.S.) who put an emphasis on sustainable practices, especially those from BIPOC & LGBTQIA communities, including Duke Albert, Oya Beauty and Gigi’s Flair Emporium. Audrey Rose Vintage
Over a decade since she founded Audrey Rose Vintage, owner Jessie Witte has opened her first brick-and-mortar. Specializing in vintage clothing, accessories and home goods made in the USA with natural fibers, Audrey Rose Vintage had a studio space in the Northrup King Building for several years, where it often hosted live photo shoot parties during the building’s First Thursday nights. Expect more of that sort of fun at the new shop. Brand Builders Market at Keg & Case 
Self-described as a “holistic consulting firm for mission-driven natural brands,” the Twin Cities–based Brand Builders by KLC has launched a new Retail Incubation Space within the Keg & Case Market in St. Paul. Each quarter, they’ll debut a new group of local startup brands with natural products, giving them the opportunity to build brand awareness and test their products at retail. Brands include Maazah Chutney, Harmony Cricket Farm, Steve the Hemp Guy, Nomadic Frankincense, Rich CBD Chocolate, Field Theory Hemp, The Grandpa Soap Company and more. Community Commons at Mall of America
Last fall, the Mall of America debuted Community Commons, a new, rent-free space dedicated to businesses struggling due to the pandemic or displaced due to civil unrest over the summer. Following its first run, the store has reopened with a fresh mix of local businesses owned by people of color. New vendors include Arway Bags, clothing brand Love Disorder, Bogaballoons, Silk Road Wellness, LEVELS apparel and more. The storefront is also acting as a launching pad for some brands—Herbal Alchemy, a former Community Commons vendor, has just opened its own storefront. LEGACY
After designer resale shop June announced its move to 50th & France, we wondered what was coming to its former storefront near Lyndale & Lake in Uptown. The secret’s now out: The storefront is now home to LEGACY, a vintage clothing and home shop run by June owner Daune Stinson’s daughter, Ruby, who recently moved back home from NYC after over a decade working in the fashion and retail industry. June’s little sister store features a fresh, more casual mix of brands, more vintage goods, and a lower price-point than June, similar to that of most vintage stores. Now open.
