The Nicollet xChange Swap + Shop: This weekly outdoor pop-up from Global Fashion Exchange and Downtown Improvement District returns for its second year to give the community the chance to swap quality items in a marketplace setting, plus a Mending and Repair Bar every other week with local sewing experts. The June House Opens: A native Californian is bringing the sunny warmth of coastal style to Minnesota with the opening of their new home boutique, Ariel Gravelle’s The June House carries a curated collection of one-of-a-kind, small-batch and vintage objects for the home sourced from around the world with an emphasis on natural raw materials, great design and pieces with a story and a past. Cocktail Glassware 101: Create your own custom dried infusion cocktail kit in this class hosted by vintage home store The Mustache Cat with local cocktail kit maker, Adørnwell. SOÑE 2024 Streetwear Fashion Show: Local men’s fashion label VENCI presents their new summer collection with a streetwear-centric fashion show. Founded by Minnesota United FC defender DJ Taylor in 2021, VENCI creates hoodies, tees and more items printed with custom artwork, inspired by the intersection of Spanish culture, American culture, and streetwear. The night also includes collections from other local streetwear lines, live dancers, music, local vendors, food and drinks. Les Sól Closing Party & Sale: Nearly four years after opening right at the beginning of the pandemic, Uptown boutique Les Sól has announced it will close at the end of the month. Founded by sisters Mikaela and Megan Harrod, the shop had a passion for community, small brands, independent artists and and sustainability. In an Instagram post, the store cited various reasons for the closure and the ongoing struggles it faced—starting with COVID, then the economy and inflation, fast-fashion companies like Shein and Amazon competing for customers’ dollars, and most recently, the unrelenting construction in front of the store on Lake Street. The shop currently has fresh markdowns throughout the store, and a closing party is planned for this Saturday including tunes from DJ Jim Frick, bubbles and more. Big Fat Super Swap: Cake Plus Size Resale hosts this weekend’s Big Fat Super Swap–an all-gender clothing swap for sizes 2XL and up. The event’s mission is to help combat clothing scarcity in harder-to-find sizes. The events will be held outside in the parking lot next to Cake; masks are required. The swap is free to attend.
