Hackwith Design House drops new releases
St. Paul–based apparel brand, Hackwith Design House, has released its first new designs of 2022. This round of releases reflects their shoppers’ preferences, via Instagram Story polls, product reviews and personal emails, and includes the best-loved styles and fabrics of 2021 (like Avocado Linen and the Oversized Dress), plus modified favorites for the season (like the Short Oversized Dress). Lauren Callis of An Upcycled Closet and Curiosity Studio is hosting her first mending classes of the year at Curiosity Studio’s new location. This class teaches you about the craft of darning, a mending method for knit garments such as socks, sweaters or blankets. Previous sewing skills not required. Mill City Farmers Winter Market
A mainstay since 2006, the Mill City Farmers Market has moved indoors to the Mill City Museum lobby for the season on select Saturdays through April. Each event features 30–40 local farmers, food makers and artisans with a goal of building a local, sustainable and organic food economy. The Bureau presents “Year of the Tiger” Capsule Launch Party
Minneapolis-based creative studio and apparel line, The Bureau, drop its next capsule collection live this Saturday with an in-person event at Glass House. STRIKKEKOS: The Cozy Norwegian Mitten Knitting Showcase
This winter, Norway House is celebrating the art of hand-knit mittens with an exhibition. It features around 30 different Norwegian and Nordic mitten styles made by volunteer knitters from across the Midwest, based on mitten designs from Nina Granlund Sæther’s book, Mittens From Around Norway. Homecoming Queen: The Wonderful World of Utica Queen
Homecoming Queen invites visitors to explore the wonderful world of Utica Queen, star of Season 13 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and a fixture of the local drag scene. The exhibition features garments, accessories and original design sketches by Ethan Mundt (Utica Queen), editorial photographs of the Drag Race alum by photographers Ben Seagren, Dan Little, Eric Magnussen, Liam James and Trevor Beaty, and a short documentary highlighting Mundt’s background and creative process by Tatyana Kurepina. After nearly a decade at its storefront on St. Paul’s West 7th Street, the Bearded Mermaid has moved its digs about 40 miles south to Northfield. The vintage shop became known for its unique twist on vintage—one part antique roadshow, one part treasure hunt, one part art gallery.
