Local painter Dan Raphael has long garnered a following for his modern impressionistic oil-on-canvas paintings. Now with the debut of his museum shop, he’s making it possible to wear his creations as fashion. Northeast Vintage Market
Local vintage brands Everyday Ejiji and Stirling Castle Vintage are teaming up to bring the magic of vintage to Northeast’s Sheridan neighborhood. Join North Minneapolis art gallery, Walrus, for their annual Halloween fashion event. This year's costume contest is themed “Dead Gorgeous” and they will be having a zombie walk-off. Nights of the Macabre
Head to Utepils Brewing this weekend for a haunting two-day event presented in partnership with Cinema of the Macabre and Cemetery Man Vintage. Friday night features a pop-up market from Cemetery Man Vintage with VHS tapes, vintage horror film collectibles and more for sale, plus a live recording of the Possibly Paranormal Podcast and screening of cult classic, The Lost Boys. Alex Šepkus Trunk Show
Lithuanian fine jewelry designer Alex Šepkus is a legend to jewelry makers and collectors of fine art. Reminiscent of Gustav Klimt or M.C. Escher, Alex Šepkus jewelry is best known for an intricate carving technique that made his jewels instantly recognizable. Having died in 2021 of cancer, Šepkus’s work is more collectible than ever. Local jewelry store, Max’s, is hosting a trunk show featuring the latest collection from the brand this weekend only. The WCSM is a farmers market, art fair, antique mall, garden center, sporting goods store and garage sale in South Haven, MN. A mainstay since 2006, the Mill City Farmers Market is having its the final outdoor market of the season this weekend before it moves indoors. Led by local maker Chingona Goods, Market Collective MN is a market collective that prioritizes BIPOC and queer vendors and allies. This weekend’s market heads to Bad Weather Brewing with goods from a group of 24 local makers, including Chingona Goods, Wild Witchery Co, Planty Tude and Up North Coffee, plus a DJ, food and craft beer. Unmasked Fashion Show
Join local fashion designer Arianne Zager for her ongoing Fashion Weekendz series for a runway fashion event at the W Minneapolis hotel. “Unmasked” is a celebration of the unusual and beautiful, carefully curated with some of the most unique jewelry, accessories, millinery and couture in the area. John Carmody: A Life in Sustainability
John Carmody, founding director of the Center for Sustainable Building Research (CSBR) at the University of Minnesota, sought balance and integration within the network of human life, ecological systems and built environments. John Carmody: A Life in Sustainability celebrates his remarkable 40+ year career as an environmental activist and systems designer who brought actionable solutions to complex problems. This exhibit traces John’s journey over four decades to enrich humankind's spiritual connection with the Earth and inspire responsible stewardship for the future. Free. Olio Vintage
New vintage collective store, Olio Vintage, is a unique collective of specialty vintage retailers brought together under one roof in Northeast Minneapolis. Home to a vintage-made-modern world of clothing, accessories, housewares, local handmade items and other fascinating gems, Olio will debut with a collective of four vintage brands: Black Nvni, SALTY, my own Rosella Vintage and in-house brand, Olio Vintage. The storefront will also feature a different rotating vintage vendor each month as well as an ever-changing assortment of handmade goods by local maker favorites. Dubbed “an in-person experience place,” Together is a new shop in Northeast Minneapolis selling a mix of thoughtfully curated goods from small brands. The store’s assortment includes men’s clothing, accessories, footwear, body care and home goods from brands like Studio Nicholson, Stan Ray, Snow Peak and Country of Origin, with an emphasis on versatile, durable and beautifully designed products that are ethical manufactured. Black Garnet Books
The only Black-owned bookstore in Minnesota, community member Dionne Sims launched Black Garnet Books two years ago online in direct response to state violence and to address racial inequality within the publishing and literary industries. Now, Sims has opened the shop’s first brick-and-mortar in St. Paul. Local designer favorite Rammy Mohamed is hosting a grand opening for her new Ramandhan Designs studio, popping up through January. Departments at Dayton's Winter Maker's Market: Following its debut one year ago, the Departments at Dayton's is back with another holiday pop-up market.
