First Thursday at Northrup King Building
First Thursdays are part of a long tradition of monthly events at the Northrup King Building—the largest building of artist studios in the state of Minnesota—which opens for the public to tour studios, meet the artists, and shop the art. Style highlights include Strey Collective, a cooperative boutique featuring goods from a collective of local fashion makers (#179), milliner Celina Kane with her latest headwear for the holidays (#225) and Larissa Loden jewelry (#265). Marion Parke Pop-up at MartinPatrick3
Locally owned footwear brand Marion Parke is popping up at North Loop high-end retailer MartinPatrick3 for an 11-day event. Marion Parke was founded by its namesake, a former foot and ankle surgeon, to create modern shoes that blend luxury craftsmanship, high style, and top-of-the-line fit, comfort and performance, informed by Parke’s knowledge and experience. Find the new spring/summer shoe collection from the brand, featuring fresh pastel shades, neutral tones and woven details. The pop-up kicks off with a cocktail party on Thursday from 4–6pm. Junk Bonanza Spring Show
Shop vintage finds, antiques, architectural salvage, and repurposed, upcycled and artisan handcrafted goods for your home and garden at this semi-annual indoor event. Find your style, whether it's Mid-Century, classic, boho, industrial, or modern farmhouse, from 150+ hand-picked vendors and artisans. Plus, Patric Richardson, aka The Laundry Evangelist as seen on TV, will be doing his Laundry Camp and have some of his favorite laundry products for sale. Vendors restock daily. Kitsch 'n' Kitchen Pop-Down & Church Basement Bake Sale
It's been over two years since vintage seller Junket: Tossed & Found's last shopping event. Now, the shop is making its return to a physical location with a new storefront. located in. a Southside Minneapolis church basement (yes, really). They're soft launching the space with—what else?—a bake sale to benefit the Evansville Arts Coalition. You'll also get the first chance to shop Junket's all-new selection of vintage kitsch and kitchen wares and goods from other vintage vendors. Mill City Farmers Winter Market
A mainstay since 2006, the Mill City Farmers Market has moved indoors to the Mill City Museum lobby for the season on select Saturdays through April. Each event features 30 to 40 local farmers, food makers and artisans with a goal of building a local, sustainable and organic food economy. This weekend’s artisan highlights include Aprilierre jewelry, Olsen Naturals body care and Sally Fritz Clothing. Face masks encouraged. Dinosaur Hampton Clothing Launch Party
Benjamin Kelly of Dinosaur Hampton has been known for his custom chainstitch embroidery pop-ups around the Twin Cities over the past few years. Now, he's shifted gears from embroidery to launch his own original clothing line. Inspired by vintage clothing, Dinosaur Hampton will offer a range of wearable goods “for all kinds of people with all kinds of style,” Kelly tells me. The launch event will have his original garments and accessories for sale in different sizes and fabrics, plus there will be a raffle and delicious refreshments and a performance by Buffalo Function Music Band. “There will not be any embroidery,” he says, “which might disappoint some people.” But, he adds, “the embroidery game was always a gateway to true design and garment making. It may make an appearance again one day. But right now I want to see people in some dynamite pants.” Can’t make it to the party? You’ll be able to shop the full collection online next week. The Black Markets Events presents Bold Beautiful Couture
Following a successful run of monthly markets showcasing goods from local, Black-owned businesses, The Black Markets is launching The Black Market Events with a spring fashion show. Hosted by Richard Moody, the show will features fashions by local Black-owned label House of Klynn, tunes from DJ Keezy, a silent auction, food and beverages and gift bags, with ticket proceeds going toward funding The Black Markets’ mission. Minneapolis Vintage Market
Head to Machine Shop for the April edition of the Minneapolis Vintage Market—the last indoor market of the season. Find two floors of Minnesota's best vintage clothing, accessories and home goods vendors all in one spot (including my own Rosella Vintage), plus coffee, beer, wine, food and a live DJ. Market Collective MN Makers Market
Led by local maker Chingona Goods, Market Collective MN is a new market collective that prioritizes BIPOC and queer vendors and allies. This weekend’s market returns to Lake Monster brewery with 11 makers including Chingona Goods, Big Bubbe Energy, Alexandra Sweet Delicacies and Wild Witchery Co. Galleria Floral Experience with Bachman's
Since 1960, spring has brought the Twin Cities a floral experience—for decades, at the downtown Minneapolis Dayton's flagship (and later when that historic building became Marshall Field's and Macy's). Over the past few years, it has taken new form at Edina shopping center, Galleria, with longtime Dayton's floral show partner, Bachman's Florals. After a month-long hiatus, the Departments at Dayton’s marketplace is back with a spring market. The shopping experience first debuted over the holiday season as part of the long-in-the-works Dayton's Project in downtown Minneapolis. Expect a mix of more than 30 new and returning local retail businesses, including Black-owned brands Junita’s Jar cookies, Rocky Robinson girls’ self-care, SJC Body Love beauty products, Giftywrap gift wrap, and Kobi Co. candles and bath bombs, plus local jewelry favorite, Larissa Loden. NUBI Ultimate Runway Fashion Show
Tickets have just been announced for NUBI Ultimate Runway, an annual fashion show featuring the designs of local label Nubi Collections by BothDol, founded by Ethiopian-turned-Minnesota designer EliNyamal Both. Produced by Richard Moody, this year's runway theme is the historical fashion of the Nubian/Kush Empire, and proceeds benefit Kenyan refugee camp, Kakuma Camp. IIDA Northland presents Awake: Fashion + Fusion Fashion Show
Back after a COVID-induced hiatus, the annual event challenges local interior designers and architects to create looks from home interior materials in a very Project Runway–inspired twist. Living Colour Spring Fashion Show

Joynoelle Spring Atelier Experience
Local fashion designer Joy Teiken has opened up the atelier and studio of her brand, Joynoelle, to host a series of fashion design workshops geared toward a variety of skill. levels. Mad Hatter Ball

Bearded Mermaid
After nearly a decade at its storefront on St. Paul’s West 7th Street, the Bearded Mermaid has moved its digs about 40 miles south to Northfield. The vintage shop became known for its unique twist on vintage—one part antique roadshow, one part treasure hunt, one part art gallery. The new store will stock a lot of favorites, like vintage wool sweaters, winter coats and sweatshirts. Celina Kane Bridal
Local milliner Celina Kane has expanded her brand with a new bridal line. Celina Kane Bridal debuts its first collection of veils, hats, headbands, tiaras, headpieces and accessories for brides, bridal parties, mother of the bride, wedding guests and all the festivities the accompany a wedding. Some of the pieces are riffs off of Kane’s non-bridal headwear favorites, such as the Turbanette, and others are elegant, couture-quality new creations, like a headband covered in white marabous feathers and a stunning, cathedral-length veil trimmed with ostrich feathers. Daily Dose Retro
Local vintage seller Daily Dose Retro has set up shop in the former Bearded Mermaid storefront, debuting to the public this weekend with a grand opening event. Daily Dose sells vintage and reworked vintage masc clothing, and has a mission to spread awareness around consuming less fast fashion. Greenhouse Salon & Shop
Last week, the Bryn Mawr neighborhood welcomed a new storefront: Greenhouse, a salon and shop. Henri Home
Modern coastal vibes come to Wayzata with the opening of Henri Home, a new retail store from St. Paul interior design studio, Henri Interiors. After suffering a damaging fire last fall, longtime Mid Century Modern vintage home store, MidModMen+friends, finally reopens this weekend. They’ve also added more original artwork, studio pottery and lighting by local and regional artists, and vintage art glass. The Mustache Cat
