The Shopping List MSP: 5/26–6/1

Beginning last week, Governor Walz allowed the Stay at Home order expire in Minnesota, replacing it with the Stay Safe MN order. That means retailers, from small boutiques to malls, are now allowed to be open for in-person shopping, as long as they have adopted and implemented a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan including social distancing guidelines for workers and customers, and allow no more than 50% of the establishment’s occupant capacity at any time. Starting today in Minneapolis, it will be required for masks to be worn by anyone within indoor public places, including retailers—shoppers and customers alike.

At the same time, most if not all stores are still offering curbside pickup and shipping options, and many are offering private in-store appointments—so there’s a way to shop, no matter your comfort level.

Read on for a regularly updated list of local retailers and malls now open, plus this week’s virtual style events and special deals being offered by local retailers, brands and makers.

  • Golden Rule boutique is celebrating its 5th birthday a little differently than expected due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Instead, they are opening up their store to up to 4 people at a time as part of a ticketed event. • The Mill City Farmers Market is back—albeit in a different form due to the COVID-19 outbreak (and sadly, without the artisan market). Because the State of Minnesota considers farmers markets essential grocery providers, the long-running market plans to remain open to serve the community and support its local farming partners every Saturday beginning through October, unless otherwise directed by officials. But this means shopping safelythere will be special social distancing guidelines in place that shoppers must follow. Be sure to visit the Mill City Farmers Market website before heading to the market at millcityfarmersmarket.org/covid-19. Saturdays 9am–1pm (8–9am for immunocompromised shoppers) @ 750 S 2nd St, Mpls
