Local fashion designers and sewers have been keeping busy sewing fabric masks to donate to medical and service professionals in need of PPE (personal protective equipment). Now, several are also making personal face masks for personal use. (Note, these masks are not certified as surgical or protective, but are created based on CDC guidelines.) Here’s a rundown of what some local designers are offering:

  • Clothing label ACG is offering masks on her website, available in pleated and contoured styles, in adult and kid sizes, with a secret pockets for filters. Order at acgmpls.com.

  • Behtsee Millman is making masks for personal use, available by donation. DM her at @btotheehtsee on Instagram for availability.

  • Designer Carole Bruns is making masks for sale in dozens of fabric options for $15 each, made from 100% cotton with a filter insert pocket. She will donate a mask for medical professionals for every mask sold. Order online at carolebruns.com.

  • Designer Christopher Straub is selling masks in adult ($15) and child sizes ($14), plus a made-to-order limited-edition version in 3 patterns ($17). He's using the money raised from sales to make masks for St. Francis hospital in Shakopee. Shop at christopherstraub.com.

  • Local maker Craftmade Aprons is selling masks for $10 each, but currently only available in one style and size small. You can also purchase masks to be donated to local organizations in need. With any mask purchase, $5 per mask will be allocated to the Project Black & Blue fund to support food service workers. Purchase online at bacraftmadeaprons.squarespace.com.

  • Local label Embellish A Little Co. is offering adult and kids’ face masks with filters in Ankari African fabrics for $15 each at embellishalc.com/accessories.

  • In addition to making masks for donation to local hospitals and Blue Cross, designer Erica Chronowski is making masks for sale to the public, priced at $12 including shipping. Order at www.etsy.com/shop/EricaChronowski.

  • Designer Fabrik Marge has masks for sale at fabrikmarge.com.

  • Local label Foat Design is selling masks made from 100% cotton quilting scraps for $10 each plus shipping, available in men’s, women’s and children’s sizes. Order at foatdesign.com.

  • Gray Home + Lifestyle is selling masks made from deadstock fabric from its textile line in adult plus 3 kids’ sizes in 12 fabric options for $12 each. You can also donate a mask to healthcare workers. Order by scrolling to the bottom of the page at grayhomeandlifestyle.com.

  • In addition to making masks to donate to local hospitals, local label Hackwith Design House is selling protective fabric 100% cotton masks from a CDC-compliant pattern at hackwithdesignhouse.com, available in child and adult sizes for $12–$15 each plus shipping. You can also donate masks by adding a note at checkout.

  • Designer Indigo & Snow is making made-to-order masks featuring her hand-illustrated and hand-dyed cotton fabrics in 8 different fabrics and 3 sizes. Masks start at $15 for basic styles and $32 for hand-painted versions. For every purchase, one will be donated to medical professionals. Local curbside pickup and shipping available.   • Designer Ivan Idland is selling personal face masks in a wide variety of patterns for $15 plus shipping in sizes ranging from small to large. A portion of the proceeds from each mask sale will benefit the efforts of Clothier Design Source, who are making masks for donation to medical professionals. Order at ivanidland.com.

  • Designer Joeleen Torvick is selling personal masks made from 100% cotton in two styles, including one with a filter pocket for $15 + shipping. You can also donate masks to help those on the frontlines and families of patients visiting hospitals. For each $15 donation given, two masks will be donated. Order at joeleentorvick.com.

  • Joynoelle is selling masks at her atelier during limited hours and her website. Each reversible mask is created using non-woven polypropylene sewn between 2 layers of 100% cotton (one layer is patterned the other is plain), elastic ties and bendable nose clamps for a secure fit.   • Julie Meyer Leather Goods is offering face masks in a variety of styles and patterns for $10 each or 3 for $25. 10% of sales will be donated to the Artist Emergency Fund through Springboard for the Arts. Shop online at juliemeyerleathergoods.com.

  • Designer resale shop June is selling exclusive, locally made masks in a variety of pretty patterns and colors. Available in store or via curbside pickup at June, 3406 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis.

  • Designer and The Fitting Room boutique owner, Kimberly Jurek-Valanzasca, is selling made-to-order masks at $15 each plus $10 shipping per order from cotton fabric. Order by sending her a DM at @kimberlyjurek on Instagram.

  • KOKOON has masks available in pleated and curved styles in a wide array of fabrics, and also offers kids’ sizes. Masks are $15–$20 each; you can also donate masks for front line medical workers and first responders. Order at kokoon.net.

  • Soon-to-open women’s boutique Les Sol is making masks made with canvas on the outside, a soft cotton inside, filter pocket, and adjustable ear ties. Plus, they are selling filters at $3 for two. Masks are $15 for adults and $12 for kids plus shipping. 50% of the proceeds to help fight child hunger. Order at shoplessol.com.

  • Local designer Makwa Studio is making masks as part of her Ribbon Mask Project. For every Ribbon Mask sold, she will be donating 2 CDC compliant masks to an individual or organization in need. Lead time is 2–3 weeks; masks are $32 each. Order at makwastudio.com.

  • Mezamé Designs is selling masks made from reclaimed cotton fibers in a variety of colors and adult and kid sizes for $14, including shipping. Order at her Etsy shop.

  • Local boutique MILLE is selling masks made from fabric remnants of its in-house clothing line, and 100% of proceeds goes to The Loveland Foundation, which serves communities of color. Available in a pack of 4 for $25; shop online at shopmille.com.

  • Minneapolis Craft Market now has a mask collection with almost 70 designs available from local makers at shop.mplscraftmarket.com.

  • Minneapolis-based brand Nubi Tribe is selling masks in a variety of African fabrics in one size for $10 plus shipping. Order at nubitribe.com.

  • Fashion designer Rammy Mohamed is making and selling masks via her Instagram, @ramadhan_designs. To order, shoot her a DM.

  • RETHINK Tailoring is selling reversible cotton masks for $15 each at rethinktailoring.square.site.

  • Designer Scott J Lehmann is selling lined 100% cotton canvas masks for $20 each including free shipping. You can choose from solid or two-tone styles, and choose your colors. Each comes with 3 disposable paper filters per mask. Order at scottjlehmann.com.

  • Selena Ellis creates high-quality masks with a third non-woven layer for filtration in adult and kid sizes. For every mask purchased, she donates one to various organizations and individuals in need, and also donates $2 for every mask sold to a local nonprofit. Masks are $12 each.   • Sun50 is offering face masks out of SPF 50 fabric at 1 for $12 or a 4-pack for $40 at sun50.co/accessories.

  • Designer Tessa Louise is offering 12 different fabric options in a range of adult and child sizes for $15 plus shipping (curbside pickup also available). You can also order masks for donation in increments of your choosing—$5 equals one mask donated. Order at tessalouise.com.

  • Local brand WAY the Label is offering 100% cotton masks in 7 fabrics in child and adult sizes at waythelabel.com for $15 each with free shipping. Proceeds from the sale of masks will be donated to The Sheridan Story to feed kids in need.

  • Local clothing label Winsome Goods is selling masks for $15–$20 including shipping, made from deadstock cotton fabric in a variety of solid colors, three mask styles and three sizes, including kids.
