Stay Gold Vintage: Local vintage seller Stay Gold Vintage has just opened their first storefront in the Standish neighborhood of Minneapolis. Since 2014, Stay Gold owner Tamrah Ryan has been selling curated vintage clothing, accessories and home goods with an emphasis on mid-century, ‘60s kitsch and ‘70s retro at vintage popups in the Twin Cities and out of her Prospect Park studio. The store, which is on the same corner as local favorite A Baker’s Wife Pastry Shop, also hosts clothing and housewares selections from local dealers Collecting Dust Vintage and Tim Engle. Up the Stairs, To the Right: Maison Bodega, a 100-year-old building renovated for experimental retail, culinary events and home to creative studio Bodega Ltd., will be transformed into a shoppable gallery. A collaboration between Maison Bodega co-creator Liz Gardner and photographer Taylor Hall O'Brien, the shoppable assortment includes collectibles contextualized alongside 19th century antiques, in keeping with Maison Bodega's exploration of the role of decorative arts within public and private space, and celebrating the antiquarian alongside the contemporary. Edina Fall Into the Arts Festival: The annual Edina Fall Into the Arts Festival returns to the beautiful Centennial Lakes Park for its 20th year. Big Fat Super Swap: Cake Plus Size Resale hosts this weekend’s Big Fat Super Swap–an all-gender clothing swap for sizes 2XL and up. The event’s mission is to help combat clothing scarcity in harder-to-find sizes. The events will be held outside in the parking lot next to Cake; masks are required. The swap is free to attend. African Fashion Week Minnesota: African Fashion Week Minnesota (AFWMN) is a new non-profit, community-based organization and social enterprise celebrating the culture, art, design, history, talent, performing arts, cuisine and heritage of Africa. This platform was created “from a need to bridge the gap and connect various cultures and provide a space for creativity, communication and unity.” The festivities kick off on Monday with “The Lost Diamonds of Africa” art and jewelry showcase. MAN DOWN: The Other Side of Rage: Produced by Gayle Smaller, Jr, this fashion show concept celebrates menswear in the Twin Cities as a vehicle to bring awareness to male mental health. Sustainable Outerwear Fashion Show: In lieu of a week of events, Black Fashion Week MN is putting all its energy into one big show this fall.
