Floral workshop series Sip N Bloom and stylist Amy Seeman have joined forces once again for an immersive fashion runway experience. Girl's Night Out Benefiting Hope Chest
Shop for a purpose at this shopping event benefiting Hope Chest for Breast Cancer, an organization that provides quick access to help with the most urgent daily living needs for breast cancer patients, such as housing, utilities, transportation and childcare. 100% of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the organization. First Thursday at Northrup King Building
First Thursdays are part of a long tradition of monthly events at the Northrup King Building—the largest building of artist studios in the state of Minnesota—which opens for the public to tour studios, meet the artists, and shop the art. Style highlights include Strey Collective, a cooperative boutique featuring goods from a collective of local fashion makers (#179). American Craft Made
In lieu of its annual American Craft Show event, which was canceled earlier this year, the American Craft Council has switched it up with a new event, American Craft Made. The marketplace offers the chance to shop for handmade goods from 150 artists from Minnesota and across the country. Local makers includes Scott J Lehmann (apparel), The Foolish Know It All (polymer clay jewelry), Hemlocks Leatherworks (leather bags and goods) and Malachite Leather (leather bags and accessories), plus two Minnesota natives, Hideaway Leathercraft (hand-painted leather jewelry) and Mezamé Designs (hand-loomed textiles and apparel). Get first dibs on the one-of-a-kind goods at the exclusive preview event on Thursday (5:30–9pm, $75+). Can’t make it in person? Friends’ Fashion Show & Formal Luncheon (SOLD OUT)
Usually held during the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s annual Art in Bloom art and floral festival, this annual afternoon fashion show and luncheon hosted by Friends of the Institute has shifted to a fall format this year in anticipation of the upcoming exhibition, Botticelli and Renaissance Florence: Masterworks from the Uffizi. The show will feature fall looks from Galleria shops, styled and emceed by local fashion pro Grant Whittaker. The event also includes pre-show Bellinis and pastries, followed by a seated, Italian-inspired lunch. St. Paul Art Crawl: Lowertown
This open studio art fest long ago outgrew Lowertown and now sprawls throughout downtown St. Paul, stretching along Grand and University Avenues. This year, the event also spans across multiple weekends with a series of live events throughout the city, including open studios, dance, musical performances and interactive demonstrations. This weekend’s highlights take place where it all began, in Lowertown arts district, with locations include the Schmidt on West 7th (900 7th St W) and Virginia Street Church (170 Virginia St). The Skyroom on the 12th floor of Dayton's in downtown Minneapolis used to be the center of social. It will be again tonight, when the building now known as The Dayton’s Project hosts PROMENADE, an adult prom for a do-over done right. A Common Thread Annual Member Exhibition
A Common Thread, the Textile Center’s annual member exhibition, returns for its 22nd year. This favorite exhibition showcased a diverse, innovative array of fiber art created by the center’s members. Each year, over a hundred artworks adorn the walls of Textile Center’s galleries in an exhibition that is as diverse in technique as it is prolific in scope. Techniques include stitching, quilting, knitting, crochet, sewing, weaving, dyeing, felting, needlework, hand construction, polymer clay, lacemaking, basketry, beading, sculpture, mixed media and more. John Carmody: A Life in Sustainability
John Carmody, founding director of the Center for Sustainable Building Research (CSBR) at the University of Minnesota, sought balance and integration within the network of human life, ecological systems and built environments. New vintage collective store, Olio Vintage, is a unique collective of specialty vintage retailers brought together under one roof in Northeast Minneapolis. Home to a vintage-made-modern world of clothing, accessories, housewares, local handmade items and other fascinating gems, Olio will debut with a collective of four vintage brands: Black Nvni, SALTY, my own Rosella Vintage and in-house brand, Olio Vintage.
