Max’s is truly one-of-a-kind and simply unlike any other jewelry store in the Twin Cities. Located at Excelsior & Grand in St. Louis Park, the boutique was founded by Ellen Hertz in 2006 after leaving a corporate career. Home to an ingenious mix of artist-designed jewelry, home decor and specialty chocolates, Max’s was named “The Coolest Little Store in America” by retail trade magazine, INSTORE.
Max’s thoughtfully curated collection includes beautiful, handcrafted, unique designs by independent artisans and small jewelry brands from across the U.S. and the world, like Ray Griffiths, Sirciam Jewelry and Jamie Joseph.
During my three years as Style Editor of Minnesota Monthly, I often worked with Ellen to pull items for product shoots, so it was such a treat to be able to collaborate with her once again to feature some of my favorite pieces from the store’s spring collections, styled with vintage dresses from my personal collection.
Among the designs are pieces from designer Ray Griffiths, whose spring trunk show is now at Max’s through May 1. The store also has a trunk show featuring designer Jamie Joseph (also featured in these images) on May 20–22, coinciding with the store’s 15th birthday. I’m also spotlighting designs by Sirciam, new to Max’s this spring. All items featured here are available in store (3826 Grand Way, St Louis Park) and online at stylebymax.com.
