Ready or Hot: Fashion Meets Passion for Planned Parenthood: The annual fashion fundraiser is back for its 7th year with a high-fashion runway show featuring the looks from Twin Cities retailers modeled by dedicated supporters of Planned Parenthood (myself included), styled by show producer Grant Whittaker. I’ll be wearing an original condom couture creation by one of my very favorite local designers, Joynoelle, who is building eight custom condom looks with secondhand materials from Ragstock. Third Thursday: Afrofuturism: Afrofuturism recognizes how Black art, technology, literature, music, film and fashion manifests the future today from the African continent and the diaspora. In honor of Black History Month, this free evening of art-making, poetry, music and dance celebrates this concept with Future Selves bookmaking, tarot card creation, and tours of the museum’s ongoing exhibition, Vision 2020: Contemporary Photographic Portraits at Mia, which features the stunning, stylistic portraits of three groundbreaking photographers from Africa: Samuel Fosso, Zanele Muholi and Omar Victor Diop. Strictly Vintage Weekend Pop-up in Winona: Jovy Rockey Jewelry is welcoming Maiden Rock, WI–based vintage music and clothing store Limbo Records & Rarities for a weekend of vintage shopping in Winona. Expect a sweet mix of cozy vintage clothing and accessories for men and women, plus creates of records plus some cassettes, 8-tracks, books and more. Thrift Queens' Last Sale Ever: Don’t miss out on the thrifty, vintagey deals at the last-ever Thrift Queens sale. The local duo is liquidating their holdings with a weekend of events, starting with a Liquidation Libation Thrift Happy Hour on Friday from 5–8pm with 50% off storewide. On Saturday, the deals continue from 11am-5pm, when all priced items will be 50% off, plus they’ll put out a huge pile of diggers-style goods for $1 per item. Kollektiv + Angels Envy Vintage Winter’s End Sale: Head to Covet Consign for an afternoon of vintage shopping. Local vintage vendor Kollektiv, which recently began selling at Covet, are hosting a happy hour with a selection of winter sale clothing, mid-century housewares, and new items recently sourced from Southern California. 3411 Vintage Pop-up + Alligator Summer: The sisters of inclusive vintage seller, 3411, recently curated the costumes for a new dark-comedy play, Alligator Summer, which was written and director by their cousins. They’re celebrating with an afternoon that includes a vintage pop-up in between performances of the play at the Southern Theater. La Bratique Bra Drive: Spring cleaning season is nearly upon us—get a head start and clean out your closet for a good cause this month. The Minnesota bra-fit stylists of La Bratique are hosting a bra collection drive to support Tubman’s Harriet Closet through the month of February.
