This week, I’m spotlighting local sales and shopping events with an emphasis on vintage and secondhand, sustainable fashion and small businesses.
Note: “A Traditional Perspective in a Modern World” Fashion Show & Artist Market has been postponed to February 1 due to expected inclement weather.
WEDNESDAY–SATURDAY:
Z Amore Store Closing Blowout Sale: The Northeast vintage store is shuttering this weekend after one last big sale. I personally checked out the sale last weekend, and there’s still several racks packed with great fashion finds spanning the decades plus some housewares, all priced at 50–75% off everything (with most prices around $5–$15). Following the sale, look for the vintage seller to pop up at local markets and online with the same great vintage. Wednesday–Friday 11am–5pm & Saturday 10am–4pm @ Z Amore, 3303 Central Ave NE, Mpls
THURSDAY:
The Violet Hour Launch Party: Celebrate the debut of The Violet Hour, a new lifestyle blog by local writer Kara Nesvig, at this party hosted by designer resale boutique, June. The blog highlights vintage clothing care and sustainability tips, among a variety of other topics around guilty pleasures, high glamour and low culture. Sip violet cocktails, shop a pop-up from On the Shelf Jewelry, enjoy a beauty moment with Maritza from HAUS Salon (7–8pm only), shop June’s beautifully curated selection of designer resale and make connections. In another nod to reuse and sustainability, attendees are asked to bring unused, unopened beauty and grooming products to donate to local homeless shelters. Can’t make it? Donation collection continue through January. Thursday 6–9pm @ June, 3406 Lyndale Ave S, Mpls
Third Thursday: Made in Minnesota: The Minneapolis Institute of Art is partnering with Make MN Magazine for this month’s edition of Third Thursday, celebrating the magazine’s latest issue and welcoming local makers and artists for live demos throughout the museum. Take in screen printing with Laura Brown, woodblock printing with Women’s Woodshop, weaving demos from Maggie Thompson of Makwa Studio, live music from Douala Soul Collective and more. Thursday 6–9pm @ Mia, 2400 3rd Ave S, Mpls

SUNDAY:
Minneapolis Vintage Market: This monthly market is always a can’t-miss event for vintage fans. It gathers together dozens of the best local vintage clothing vendors for a smorgasbord of one-of-a-kind fashion through the decades, at a new location each month. This month, they’re at Fulton’s production brewery in Northeast, so you can enjoy your shopping with a side of craft beer (or a hot beverage from SK Coffee). Pro tip: Snag an early-bird ticket for first dibs and the chance to shop before the crowds. Sunday 11am–noon early-bird ($10), noon–5pm (free) @ Fulton Beer Production Brewery, 2540 2nd St NE, Mpls Get early-bird tickets at mplsvintagemarket.com
